For Employers
Improve Your Bottom Line
Employers that promote commuter choices benefit from increased employee job satisfaction, reduced turnover, increased productivity, and the improved health of workers, our environment and the regional economy. All of these factors have a direct impact an organization’s bottom line. Promoting commuter choices can be as simple as providing up-to-date information on existing commuter programs and services available in our region.
Onsite Promotion of Transportation Options
If you have open enrollment benefit fairs, wellness fairs, or environmental fairs, we’ll be happy to staff a table to help promote and grow your programs.
Educate your Employees
Commuter Connection offers several bicycle education courses taught by instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists. Whether it is just learning the rules of the road, or taking a team building ride, Commuter Connection can help your employees navigate the streets in Downtown Minneapolis safely, effectively and confidently.
Reduce Your Payroll Tax Obligations
By sponsoring pre-tax transit pass & vanpool programs, employers not only save their employees money, they also reduce their payroll taxes. Employers that subsidize employee transit passes are also eligible for a 30% Minnesota state tax credit on those dollars.
Communicate To Your Employees
Commuter Connection offers a variety of free communication tools designed to increase employee participation in employer commuting programs. From commuter kits to bulletin boards to commuter fairs, our toolbox is free and open to all downtown employers!
Relocation Assistance
If your organization is considering a move to Downtown Minneapolis, we offer a variety of free services to employers that make the pending commute into downtown less stressful. We can help set up a discount transit pass program and get passes into employees’ hands before the move. We can also come to a site before a move and provide personalized trip planning services on bus and rail, carpool and vanpool matching services, and information on parking options.
Get Recognized
Employers that offer outstanding commuter benefits and services to their employees can qualify for the nationally recognized designation of Best Workplace for Commuters. Employers can also nominate themselves and their employees for the annual Commuter Choice Awards, sponsored by the region’s Transportation Management Organizations and Metro Transit.
Get Involved
Commuter Connection and its regional partners sponsor events throughout the year. We invite you to join us in promoting economical and eco-friendly commuting options in the region. Take the lead in reducing congestion, improving our air quality and making the Twin Cities a more pleasant place to work and play.
